Here at Vacations New Zealand we pride ourselves in selecting activites that we know you will enjoy. These optional extras are chosen that may inspire you to try something a little different, or let you experience something a little out of your comfort zone! We welcome your questions and if there is anything that you would like to add to your tour that you may have heard about, chances are we have too! If you would like to substitute an activity from one of the tours with another option we will be happy to accommodate what you may have in mind. After all, it is your New Zealand vacation!

North Island:
Lord of the Rings, 2 hour private tour featuring the home of the Hobbits film location and optional farm tour. $300 for 1-4 people
Kayak Lake Taupo’s beautiful coastline and view the impressive 10 metre high Maori carvings in the rock face. Half day kayak $120 per person.
Game fishing off the spectacular Coromandel coastline. A full day private charter, try your hand at capturing Marlin for tag and release, yellow fin tuna, and jig for kingfish. $1100 for 1-4 people
Learn the art of ancient bone carving, 2-3 hours of tutored bone carving by a traditional specialist. Approx $60-100 per person
18 holes of golf at the Wairakei international golf course set amongst spectacular scenery of the Lake Taupo region. $280 per person includes green fees, cart hire and clubs.
2 days/2 nights Wine touring in Hawke’s bay, sampling the very best in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay. Visit art-deco Napier, drink fabulous wine and stay in luxury accommodation. P.O.A
South Island:
A day at the Akaroa cooking school. Classes with guest chefs focusing on fresh seasonal produce. (selected dates) $200 per person including lunch.
Adventure caving (from Punakaiki) Full-on expedition style caving. Rappel, ladders and cascading waterways! Reasonable level of fitness and commitment required. 5 hours duration, $300 per person.
Milford Sound scenic helicopter flight over spectacular mountain tops and fiords, followed by a Milford Sound cruise and return helicopter flight. Snow landing included. 4 hours, departs Queenstown. $850 per person (weather dependant)
4WD instructional session based out of Queenstown. Take the driving seat in a powerful Range Rover with a professional instructor. 4 hours. $900 1-2 people
Lord of the rings film locations private tour, half day luxury 4WD tour based out of Queenstown. $900 for 1-4 people
Mt John observatory star gazing night tour. View the galaxies from powerful telescopes. 2 hour night tour Lake Tekapo. $90 per person
A full day of Ice climbing on the Fox or Franz Josef glacier. All kit and instruction included. Heli option also available. Good level of fitness required. P.O.A
A half day of pampering. Hot stone full body massage, a deluxe facial and fabulous manicure at the spa in Lake Tekapo $340 per person.
2 days/2 nights in Dunedin. Discover the historic Scottish heritage and magnificent architecture. View penguins, seals and albatross in their natural environment. Take a day trip to the Moeraki boulders geological formations, and have lunch at Fleur’s famous restaurant where fish and wild foods are the specialty. P.O.A
